This would be my last entry for my blog - A "Half Time" of My Life in Aus.

There are so many things to write about such as how to study for IELSTS or at uni,
but they differ from person to person.
In addition, this year ends soon,
so I think this is a good chance to achieve an emotional closure of some sort now.
I am also very lazy after working so hard. haha

Just after I handed in my last assignments, I came back to Japan.
I was not sure if I could graduate from my uni,
but I've got my results and based on them, I think I can get my second master's degree.

Here are my final results:
1. Teaching English for Academic Purposes - Credit
2. Professional Practice 2 Language Literacy and Numeracy - Pass (Not Graded)
3. Grammar and the Construction of Meaning - High Distinction
4. Language Development - High Distinction
So unless the machine is broken or makes a mistake, I will be able to graduate next May. haha
I won't go back to Oz anyway, though.

Thank you for your support with your uncountable comments and abundant advice.
I really appreciate them.
I can never thank you enough.
I couldn't have done it without you guys.

I hope that you have a wonderful new year for 2012

This morning it hailed and was very cold out.
I went downtown in Kyoto city, but I didn't feel any reverse culture shock.
I couldn't even believe that I had been in Australia.
It was just like a dream.
I was able to assimilate into Japan easily and completely.
I guess it was because I hadn't stayed overseas for a long time and I knew what our society is like.
The city hasn't changed a lot either.

But there are some differences I noticed in Japan.

1. Cold
Although they have winter in Australia, it is equivalent to the coldness in Autumn here.

2. Autumn Leaves
I can see beautifully tinged leaves of red and yellow.

3. Excessive Services and Cleanliess at Restaurants
Customer services are too good, so I felt strange.
It was like they expected more payment although there is no tip system.
Many restaurants supply customers with a wet towel to clean our hands with.

4. Heaps of Tired People
There are many people sleeping on the train.
It rarely happens on the train in Australia
This makes me worry about going back to work.

I don't have any chance to speak English, so I'm afraid of losing my English skills.

Finally, I came back to Kyoto from Australia.

I hopped on my flight at 6 a.m. in Melbourne.
I didn't sleep overnight except for an hour nap in order to not sleep in.

My flight was cheap, but I had to go back home via Cairns.
http://kenichiokuma.blog86.fc2.com/blog-entry-398.html
It took 3 hours from Melbourne to Cairns and took 7 hours from Cairns to Osaka.
In addition, I was very hungry, and I was not sure if I had to pick up my baggage in Cairns
so I had breakfast at the airport.
When I went to the baggage claim, nobody was there and only mine was rotating.
I slept for more than half of my flight.
The night view in Osaka from the airplane was amazing.

Since the weight of my baggage was the same, that was the thing I was most worried about.
When I got to Melbourne, they fined me $90.

So, I moved some heavy stuff into my hand bags from my carry case
and hoped that they didn't check them.
At Melbourne Airport, a staff did check my hand bags...
It was 5 kg over, so she asked me to move it into my carry case.
That was embarrassing and tiring in front of other passengers,
but she didn't fine me and warned me to buy additional baggage instead before the next flight.
At Cairns, I couldn't find any place to use the Internet, so I moved some stuff to my hand bags.
I thought they could check on their computer, but it was OK.
Luckily, I didn't pay anything extra payment for my baggage on my way back home.
It was a long day. haha

Finally, my last day in Australia came, but I spent it with being lazy as usual.

I closed my bank account at ANZ bank and got my money back.
I should have sent it online or changed it into Japanese Yen.
I didn't have time to do that and just had to withdraw my money.

At night, I treated my friend at a Japanese restaurant called "Chuji" in the city.
We ate agedashi dofu, yakitori combo, karaage, sashimi and sushi with drinks.
It came to over $120 for everything.
Because I didn't have rent to pay and my friend had taken me to many places,
that cost was very small compared to what he has done for me.
I was glad to give a bit of his kindness back.

I didn't feel like today was going to be my last day at all.
It was just one of those days.
I wonder how people feel in the same situation.
Anyway, I'm not going to sleep tonight in order to leave at 4 a.m. and catch my flight at 6 a.m.

As I wrote in my previous entry, me and my friend went to the Twelve Apostles.
It took around two hours from Wye, where we last stayed.
We stopped at a forest near the lighthouse located in the southernmost part of in Australia
except Tasmania.
It's 100 km there and back, so we didn't go there.
It seems that people can stay over night at the place if they want.

When we got to the destination, it was sunny.
The weather is really important when we see the view, so I was very lucky.
The sun shone on the ocean and the Twelve Apostles stood there in magnificence.
Actually, some of them have collapsed because of continual waves and wind.
A day might come when all of them are gone,
but the beautiful landscape is closely connected to nature
and is a cultural asset that must be conserved.

Thanks to my friend, I really had a nice trip for the last of my time in Australia.
