2010.12.22 18/12/10 - Surfing
My school finally finished yesterday, so I went surfing right away.
Going surfing In Australia has been one of my dreams.
This was my first time surfing and I was very excited.
(Actually, I am not a good swimmer.)

I woke up around 5, went to Wynyard Station and took the 6: 25 bus.
After arriving, I bought a ticket called "Mybus 3" at Wynyard Station, which cost $4.30.
I got to Dee Why Beach before 7:30 which is close to Manly Beach in North Sydney.

Since there weren't so many buses early in the morning, I joined the class late.
I learned the procedure first.
At first, I couldn't even keep the board level with the surface of the water while paddling.
After that, I began to stand on it just for a moment, but couldn't keep standing.
I need to practice more and more.

The weather was cloudy, and it was so cold outside and in the water as well.
So I was shivering on the board.
Although I was really tired and I had some bruises and a small cut,
I had a good time!

I bought a 5 lesson ticket, so I have four more lessons to take.
It costs $150 and it lasts two hours each time.
(A single lesson costs $45)
I hope surfing becomes my new hobby.

Here are some new phrase(s) that I have come across in daily life.
1. caw (on TV)
= the harsh sound that is made by birds such as crows and rooks
2. mirage (on TV)
= an effect caused by hot air in deserts or on roads, that makes you think you can see sth, such as water, which is not there
3. thud (on TV)
= a sound like the one which is made when a heavy object hits sth else
