2011.03.01 20/02/11 - Fair Day
I went to Victoria Park to join Fair Day with my friends,
which is the opening event of Mardi Gras.
Mardi Gras is an annual gay pride festival and parade in Sydney
and seems to be the largest event in the world.

I heard that as many as 70000 people take part in it every year.
It was very hot today, so we did not spend a lot of time there.
I wonder why rainbow colours are related or symbolic to them?

In Japan some people are in the closet about this kind of thing
while people from other countries such as Canadians and Aussies
are open to the public.
However, such people from among the TV personalities are always on TV programs in Japan
and familiar to viewers.
I heard that it is our unique culture.

As I wrote here, I watched their show on a hotel on Oxford Street before.
You can see many of them every weekend.

I'm going to watch their parade, which is going to be held next Saturday.

Here are some new phrase(s) that I have come across in daily life.
1. childhood friend (in a newspaper)
=
2. infatuate (in a newspaper)
= be inspired with an intense but short-lived passion for
3. brawl (in a newspaper)
= a rough or noisy fight or quarrel
