These days I have wondered if university is useful for me.
In addition to only 4 subjects and 8 hours in total,
I have to read a lot for my assignments.

I quit my job and came here to improve my English ability and teaching skills.
I don't mean that reading is useless, but is it really helpful to meet my needs?

I knew that classes at university usually focus on theory,
so I chose my university because it seemed to be relatively practical.
I wanted to go to TAFE which has a practicum program
or language schools which are specialized in my area.

But I want to work at schools in Japan in the future.
It is not easy to get a job unless I have a new certificate.
Anyway, since I decided to study at a university, I need to do my best.
I will see how it goes.

I found out that each class costs as much as $200.
Each class lasts only two hours
and that means $100 is supposed to be gone every hour.

Is it really worth studying at university?
What do you reckon

Here are some new phrase(s) that I have come across in daily life.
1. swoon (in a newspaper)
= to feel very excited, emotional, etc
2. mob (in a newspaper)
= crowd round in an unruly and excitable way
3. tacky (in a newspaper)
= not dry and therefore slightly sticky
