2011.03.28 18/03/11 - ELSSA
ELSSA is an academic support center that provides academic language development programs
to students at the university.
They help enhance our learning at the university through a focus on academic literacy,
which involves reading, writing, listening, speaking and critical thinking.

One of their programs they offer is an academic drop-in workshops.
I am going to attend the workshop every Friday, and the program will be a big help for me.

Here are two workshops that were held for the last two weeks + α:
11th→Analysing assignment tasks; planning an assignment
18th→Reading, note-talking and avoiding plagiarism; introducing referencing and citation skills
25th→Writing paragraphs and academic sentences; developing referencing and citation skills
When I review those strategies, I might summarize those lectures here. haha

ELSSA also has some programs such as an intensive leaning course and an individual support system,
so I am going to make good use of them, too.

Here are some new phrase(s) that I have come across in daily life.
1. scant (in a newspaper)
= hardly any
2. nab (in a newspaper)
= to catch or arrest sb who is doing sth wrong
3. swoosh (in a newspaper)
= move with such a sound

If you read this diary, please click on the white button and the pink button. Thanx!!
