It seems to have been very cold and snowing for the last couple of days
around the disaster-stricken area.
15 people died because of the cold and lack of medicine.
The victims of this earthquake outnumbered those of the Great Hanshin Earthquake.

I heard two shocking stories with different viewpoints, so I would like to share them with you.

1. A message from a place of refuge

The person said that they have to divide one rice ball (onigiri) among four people.
It is what little food they have for each day.
They do not have any water and gas, either.

2. Another message from a person at the disaster area
to a professional baseball player who donated heaps of money.

The person said that if the environment for baseball is ready and you guys can play baseball,
I hope you play as scheduled.
The feelings will vary from player to player
but professional baseball in Japan includes a lot of people.
It means there are heaps of people who make their living by working in the field.
So please play for them.
If you don't work as a working member of society, please pay money for those who do.
People who are discussing whether baseball should open or not
are not really in trouble and some of them are being emotional.
But the victims like us are far from the discussion and cannot afford to think about it.
As time goes on , the situation is getting better, and baseball helps us revive and recbuild.
Baseball is not special, but I hope every event works for us like that.

When I read these articles, I felt very shocked and tears came to my eyes.
This is not the Japan I knew.
I hope the situation is getting better as fast as possible.

Here are some new phrase(s) that I have come across in daily life.
1. bullet point (in a newspaper)
= a small solid circle printed before each in a list of items
2. footer (on TV)
= contemptible person
3. cop (in a newspaper)
= catch or arrest

If you read this diary, please click on the white button and the pink button. Thanx!!
