One month has passed since the devastating earthquake happened
in northeast Japan.

According to the news, the death toll has reached 13,116
and the number of missing is 14,377.
Around 150,000 people are still living in shelters.

There are still many aftershocks and one of the biggest ones occurred
on the 7th in Miyagi prefecture.
The magnitude was 7.4 and this is the 4th one within one month
that was more than magnitude 7.
The seismic intensity was 6.
Some people died and more than 100 people were injured.

We do not yet know everything about the matter,
and the situation could go either way.
I am going to attend another foundation event this weekend,
but I cannot do many things.
I am going to pay one minute’s silent tribute to
the earthquake and tsunami victims.

Here are some new phrase(s) that I have come across in daily life.
1. take one's pick (in a newspaper)
=
2. rebuff (in a newspaper)
= reject in an abrupt or ungracious manner
3. moll (in a newspaper)
= a prostitute
