2010.10.18 03/10/10 - KJ?
Today it rained hard.
I think this is the first time we have had weather this bad since I got here.
Although we have a three-day weekend (this Monday is a national holiday),
it is going to be cold and rainy.

By the way, do you know the meaning of "KJ" indicated on snack bags
When I saw it, I thought the unit with numbers showed the amount of calories,
As you can see at the pictures (actually there isn't any here), Doritos have 2170KJ per 100g.
I was very surprised that Australians eat snacks with that many calories
and I thought I should cut down on the calories I consume every day.

However, when I looked at the unit carefully, I found the unit is KJ, not calory.
So I checked it out by this dictionary and I realized that 1KJ is equal to 0.239 calories.
Anyway, I have to worry about my weight!! Otherwise I will not be able to wear my clothes.

Here are some new phrase(s) that I have come upon in daily life.
1. gasp (on TV)
= to take a quick deep breath with your mouth open, especially because you are surprised or in pain
2. stricken (on TV)
= seriously affected by an unpleasant feeling or disease or by a difficult situation
3. thud (on TV)
= a sound like the one which is made when a heavy object hits sth else
