I found it difficult to make Australian friends here because there are not any Australians at school.
(I hope to find some local students at the university where I am going)

Fortunately, my roommates are all from Europe and my classmates mostly from Korea, so I haven't spoken Japanese very much. It has been a wonderful, but I'd like to have more opportunities to talk with Aussies and to learn their English.

So, how can I make friends with them?

I think there are some ways:
1. speak to them on the street or at train stations
2. do volunteer work
3. go to bars or something like that
4. join "WWOOF" (This is what I'm thinking of)
5. get a part-time job (after I have a student' visa)
6. play sports on the weekend
7. join language and cultural meet up groups

Today’s word(s) or phrase(s) found in my daily life.
1. It is [overcast] (on TV)
= covered with clouds
2. They are enjoying some [pies] (on TV) =an Australian slang
= confusion, mess
3. [Footy] (on TV, but not US) =an Australian slang
= football
